1st timer

I am thinking about doing my 1st cleanse for the following purposes;
1. to help clear my eczema
2. to potentially correct any damage done from decades of IBS
Right now I am experiencing the worst eczema in my adult memory. I had a history of IBS from when I was a teenager until a few years ago. I think some of it was due to allergy meds. I didn't realize until about 5 years ago that the sudaphed and antihistimines were causing constipation.

My diet is pretty healthy with the exception of way too much sweets. I don't eat meat besides seafood except poultry a few times a year. I have about 1 cup of caffinated tea a day and a decaf latte 3-4 times per month.

Anyway, my 2 major concerns about a cleanse is that A. I get crazy from low blood sugar (bitchy, clumsy, have trouble driving), and B. it(my skin and di gestive system) will get worse before it gets better.

I'm looking for an easy, not too intensive 1st fast. The P & B looks interesting to me. Any suggestions?

well first work on getting sugar out of your diet.

i didnt feel low blood sugar when i did my short master cleanses. you are having calories and vits the whole time. its just in liquid form.

anything that takes you through a detox is going to make you bitchy. haa haa. probably it will anyway. thats why you should get rid of the sugar and caffine totally before you start. (no caffine headaches that way)

if you do the master cleanse wait a month before you start the shakes so your digestion wakes back up.

ok, I'm going to try sugar detox.
I've gone off desserts and sweet coffe drinks for 2 or 3 weeks.
I want to start there since cakes and chocolates are my weakness.
I'll try to add magnesium and chromium to my diet. I think my addiction is more about habit, comfort, and endorfins than deficiencies.
Mints in my mouth and chamomile tea with honey can temporarily help cravings.
Any other advice for sucessful sugar detox would be appreciated.

i dont know if this will help you...but i imagine bad food in my hand and squishing it. pretty gross. and then i imagine it in a plastic bag all squished and then that bag added as flesh to my thighs. hee hee

totally turns me off of junk food.

also when you want sugar...have some fruit instead of cake. that way you are getting natural sugar and all the extra good stuff in fruit.

just dont rush yourself. doing it at your own pace will mean you are more likely to stick to it.
        good luck!

I'll try the plastic bag thing. That could help.
Today is DAY 6 of no sweets! I had a small bit of sugar in my coffee today and I haven't given up all crackers/breads/ etc w/sugar, but my weakness is really the cakes, cookies and chocolate.

I'm happy to report that at a party last night there were shiny gold hershy's candy spread out all over 3 tables and I didn't have 1! When I got home, I sat down on the couch to check my email and my roomate had left an open package of M nM's on the table. I got up and moved to the chair.

I can't imagine living my life with out the above mentioned things, but then again before I gave up red meat, I couldn't imagine giving that up either.

Maybe I need a sweets equivelent of "Diet for a New America"!! Pictures of cocoa beans suffering in closed quarters, Carrots for carrot cake being pulled out by their "hair", sugar cane being hacked down with dull bladed machetes.

There is a book called "Sugar Blues" about this very issue. Have't read it, but maybe it will help you get yourself psyched for cutting out the sugar. Good luck!

I found that once I totally denied myself the stuff for about a month, I actually broke the sugar cravings (and especially chocolate cravings) that I don't particularly want them anymore. Now when I am offerred a piece of chocolate, I turn it down as often as I accept.

It sounds like you're oding a great job already!

Ok, I started on Feb 21st and my sis joined me which is good because she's like an exercise nut and a marathon runner and I'm 50 lbs overweight so I feel like I CAN'T give in before her!!

The 1st week was the hardest. Last week was hard because PMS collided with the death of a fomer student. I do find my energy level is better and I'm craving it less and less ferosiously... I still haven't totally cut suger out. Just no cakes, cookies, sweets etc.
I had 1 bite of my neice's birthday cake because my BROTHER baked it!
Today was a challange, a going away party for my co-worker included a mocha cake. My absolute favorite! (I used to drive accross town to the haight when I was PMSing to get Mocha cake at the Horseshoe cafe). And the peer pressure was tough! But I held strong! I think it was more so the IDEA of the delicious mocha cake than a craving or urge.

I agree that the sugar is the most difficult one. I"m fairly new to cleansing as well and the first cleanse that I did I weaned myself off of sugar and caffeine for 1 month before. I thought i was going to be bitchy while on the food cleanse, but the sugar detox was the worst. Once you get past the difficult, bitchy period, you will be fine. You can do it... I know you can.
I've done different cleanses, but I mostly do juice fasts. I fast for 3 days (building up 5 days before and 5 after and eat healthy on a regular basis). I only drink water, freshly squeezed fruit juices and teas for 3 days. It isn't as bad as you think it might be. It does take some will power though. I also used to be over weight (and i could use to lose a few more pounds) and i have to say that for me cleansing really helped with the weight loss. I do it on a regular basis and I have never felt better.

Good luck lia, if you need any words of encouragement while cleansing let me know....

Hello 1st timer and it's about time. :) You are going to feel so much better. Your eye's will become brighter and lighter, tongue pinker, skin prettier, energy higer and so much more. One most important thing in any colon cleanse is to be sure to take a good probiotic with your cleanse and then continue with the probiotic from this day forward for the rest of your life. Probiotic's are the good bacteria we need to replace to our gut flora. I have a few sites you can go to and get a whole lot of info. Pysillium and bentonite cleanse's to me are the best. You don't have to make a bee line to the bathroom nor have I or alot of my client's, only one has had to result to an enema because he did not take a probiotic. I have passed a lot of foot long cord's of old fecal matter. All you need is a small jar that will hold at least 10oz. of water, pysillium and bentonite and good instruction's with a good support team member(s). You can email me any time if you need too. This site has wonderful info on this cleanse. Also www.drnature.com, www.Sculptncleanse.com and of course the post on this site, the pysillium and bentonite how to. You don't have to do Dr. Nature's product or Sculpt-n-cleanse, just go for the education the research will give you. There is a Sonne's #9 (pysillium) & #7(bentonite) one is around $15 and the other is around $13. AND REMEMBER TO TAKE A GOOD PROBIOTIC AND ALOT OF WATER AND SOFT EASY ORGANIC DIET. I have all but Dr. Nature in our store. I tell everyone who want's to cleanse about the Sonne product, why? It's affordable, relyable, get's result's, and it's a done deal. My email is Wintersharvest60@aol.com
