Psyllium and bentonite is one of the simplest and most effective ways to cleanse the digestive system.
Liquid bentonite should be used...or powdered bentonite should be hydrated to a semi-pourable yogurt consistency prior to using it. Mix 1 Tablespoon of liquid bentonite and 1 teaspoon of powdered psyllium (or 1 Tablespoon if using whole husk psyllium) with 8-10oz of water or diluted juice, shake and drink immediately. Follow this with another 8-10oz glass of water. This is in addition to daily water intake of half your body weight in ounces. Sufficient water is a key to success with this cleanse!
Psyllium and bentonite shakes should be taken at least one hour before or after taking any supplements, herbs, medications, etc.
Start with one shake a day and gradually increase as the body adjusts to the additional fiber. It may take 3-5 shakes a day and/or several weeks before you start passing mucoid plaque. Continue taking the shakes as long as mucoid plaque is being eliminated for up to 6 months. Additional cleanses may be necessary in order to thoroughly cleanse the digestive system and can be performed for a few months at a time. Each cleanse should be followed with the use of a good-quality probiotic to replace beneficial bacteria. Maintenance cleanses should be done 2-4 times per year.
If constipation should occur while doing this cleanse, 1) increase daily water intake, 2) use enemas or colonics to clear out released material and get things moving again, and 3) cut back on the shakes or stop the cleanse until the bowels are moving regularly again.
This cleanse can be combined with the Master Cleanse and parasite cleanse...this is called the Ultimate Fast. It can also be done with juice fasting.
This cleanse can also be performed while eating a normal diet. However, the 'cleaner' the diet is, the better the results will be. Reduce or eliminate meats, dairy, flours, sugars, processed foods, toxic exposures of all types...anything that is mucoid-forming. The diet should include lots of fresh vegetables and fruits (if tolerated), fresh juices, salads, soups, etc. Liquid minerals including trace minerals and electrolytes are beneficial for creating an alkaline state in the body and can improve the results of the cleanse.
Two good sources for cleansing products include Yerba Prima (Great Plaines Detox liquid bentonite) and Sonne's (#7 Detoxificant liquid bentonite)...both companies also carry psyllium.
Dry skin brushing is a great addition to a colon cleanse...it cleans the skin and also circulates and cleanses the lymph, aiding in the elimination process. A natural bristle sisal or tampico brush is used...brush all areas of the skin (except face and any sensitive areas) with long strokes towards the heart prior to shower or bath. The brush and skin are both dry when brushing is performed.
Psyllium and bentonite can help to eliminate parasites and candida, but each of these conditions requires additional measures to address it completely. A parasite cleanse can be performed with the colon cleanse or immediately after. Liver/gallbladder cleansing is also beneficial following a thorough colon cleansing.
Above all else...pay close attention to how your body responds and honor what it needs!

Re: P&B Shakes - the psyllium and bentonite detox how to
Sun, July 24, 2005 - 11:40 PMWhat is Bentonite? What is montmorillonite?
A VOLCANIC DETOXIFIER—Bentonite, a medicinal powdered clay which is also known as montmorillonite, derives from deposits of weathered volcanic ash.
It is one of the most effective natural intestinal detoxifying agents available and has been recognized as such for centuries by native peoples around the world. Whatever the name, liquid clay contains minerals that, once inside the gastrointestinal tract, are able to absorb toxins and deliver mineral nutrients to an impressive degree, says Knishinsky. Liquid clay is inert which means it passes through the body undigested.
Technically, the clay first adsorbs toxins (heavy metals, free radicals, pesticides), attracting them to its extensive surface area where they adhere like flies to sticky paper; then it absorbs the toxins, taking them in the way a sponge mops up a kitchen counter mess.
There is an electrical aspect to bentonite’s ability to bind and absorb toxins. According to Yerba Prima, a company based in Ashland, Oregon, which markets Great Plains® Bentonite, the clay’s minerals are negatively charged while toxins tend to be positively charged; hence the clay’s attraction works like a magnet drawing metal shavings. But it’s even more involved than that.
Once hydrated (combined with water), bentonite has an enormous surface area. According to Yerba Prima, a single quart bottle can represent a total surface area of 960 square yards or 12 American football fields. Bentonite is made of a great number of tiny platelets, with negative electrical charges on their flat surfaces and positive charges on their edges.
When bentonite absorbs water and swells, it is stretched open like a highly porous sponge; the toxins are drawn into these spaces by electrical attraction and bound fast. In fact, according to the Canadian Journal of Microbiology (31 [1985], 50-53), bentonite can absorb pathogenic viruses, aflatoxin (a mold), and pesticides and herbicides including Paraquat and Roundup. The clay is eventually eliminated from the body with the toxins bound to its multiple surfaces.
According to Sonne’s Organic Foods of North Kansas City, Missouri, a company that markets Detoxificant (a liquid montmorillonite), “There is no evidence that bentonite has any chemical action in the body. Its power is purely physical.”
Clay’s adsorptive and absorptive qualities may be the key to its multifaceted healing abilities. Knishinsky reports that drinking clay helped him eliminate painful ganglion cysts (tumors attached to joints and tendons, in his case, in his wrist) in two months, without surgery.
According to Knishinsky, benefits reported by people using liquid clay for a period of two to four weeks include: improved intestinal regularity; relief from chronic constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, and ulcers; a surge in physical energy; clearer complexion; brighter, whiter eyes; enhanced alertness; emotional uplift; improved tissue and gum repair; and increased resistance to infections. “Clay works on the entire organism. No part of the body is left untouched by its healing energies,” he notes.
A medical study by Frederic Damrau, M.D., in 1961 (Medical Annals of the District of Columbia) established clearly that bentonite can end bouts of diarrhea. When 35 individuals (average age 51) suffering from diarrhea took two tablespoons of bentonite in distilled water daily, the diarrhea was relieved in 97% (34 of the 35 patients) in 3.8 days, regardless of the original cause of the problem (allergies, virus infection, spastic colitis, or food poisoning). According to Dr. Damrau, bentonite is “safe and highly effective” in treating acute diarrhea.
Knishinsky’s research suggests that the regular intake of liquid clay (typically one to three tablespoons daily, in divided doses) can produce other benefits including parasite removal from the intestines, allergy and hay fever relief, and elimination of anemia and acne. For example, clay helps anemia because it contains both types of dietary iron (ferrous and ferric) in an easily assimilated form; it reduces discomfort from allergies by quickly neutralizing allergens that would otherwise produce allergic reactions; and it reduces heartburn and indigestion by absorbing excess stomach acids.
However, clay’s forte is probably its role as a general internal detoxification and cleansing agent. According to Keith Payne of White Rock Mineral Corporation in Springville, Utah, clay scrapes and cleans the lining of the colon. “As the colon becomes cleaner, its ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients increases, making the minerals even more bioavailable, thus giving more energy.”
White Rock’s clay, called Bentonite Minerals™, contains 71 trace and ultra-trace minerals, including many that are probably unknown to most consumers, such as ruthenium, tellurium, and thulium. Trace minerals enable the body to absorb nutrients—“they are the bonding agents in and between you and food,” explains Payne.
Bentonite Minerals are derived from an ancient seabed formation in Utah; according to geologists, the clay formed when a layer of volcanic ash fell into what was, long ago, a shallow inland sea. “As the ash filtered through the seawater, it collected pure minerals, forming a layer of highly mineralized clay,” says Payne.
The best way to drink clay is on an empty stomach, or at least an hour before or after a meal or immediately before sleeping at night, says Knishinsky. Typically, clay is available as a thick tasteless, pale-grey gel, but it also comes as a powder or encapsulated.
Generally, it is advisable to start with one tablespoon daily, mixed with a small amount of juice; observe the results for a week, then gradually increase the dosage to no more than four tablespoons daily, in divided doses. Drinking clay can be an annual spring cleaning of your gastrointestinal tract or it can be a symptom-focused, self-care method

Mon, July 25, 2005 - 12:53 AMheres a little kit:

Suggested usage
P & B Shake Kit
00140
Yerba Prima
Psyllium powder &
Liquid Bentonite
This is an option that many experienced Master Cleansers use in addition to what is recommended in the Burroughs program. Because most of the processed foods we eat lack fiber, in order to effectively cleanse the colon we need to take other measures. A daily fiber intake of at least 25 grams is recommended for good health, but on average people consume only 10-15 grams, this can lead to some serious build up in the colon. Bentonite (a natural volcanic clay) is the only product known to remove mucoid plaque from the walls of the intestine and colon and works best when the colon is empty of food. When Bentonite absorbs water and swells, it stretches to become a highly porous sponge. It then traps and binds unwanted, non-nutritive substances such as pesticides, heavy metals and other potentially harmful substances so they do not remain in the body. Essentially Bentonite is a magnetic sponge that scrapes away bacteria, parasites, and toxins from the entire intestinal tract. As the colon's impacted material is cleaned out, its ability to absorb minerals and nutrients increases. Psyllium or Bentonite is not digested by the body. The salt-water flush in the Master Cleanser helps the Bentonite gel and plaque debris to move out and helps further clean the colon walls to a smooth surface. Click Below for Suggested Usage/Recipe.
Suggested Usage and Info
P & B Shake (Usage during Master Cleanser)
1-Tbsp. (rounded) Whole Psyllium Husk
1-Tbsp. of Bentonite
8 oz. of distilled water
Shake mixture vigorously and drink before it gels. Follow this with another 8 oz. glass of water. This is in addition to the daily water intake of half your body weight in ounces. Thus a 150lb person drinks at least 75 oz. of water/day. Sufficient water is key to success with this cleanse!
Start Taking on days 2 through 8 on the Master Cleanser program (if doing only 10 days). Shakes must be taken on an empty stomach. Do not take within 1 hour of the lemonade as the P&B absorbs nutrients in the stomach. The P&B is not a substitute for the daily laxitive tea regiment or for the salt water flush. If constapation occurs drink more water or follow with the salt water flush.
Take 4 times a day, (5 if you weigh more than 150 lbs.) at three hour intervals. And remember to follow the daily water intake listed above.
**After the cleanse it is a good idea to take a good probiotic to replace beneficial intestianal bacteria.
18 bucks. probably could find it cheaper but i bought my book from them on the mc so that i linked that. -

Re: P&B Shakes - the psyllium and bentonite detox how to
Mon, July 25, 2005 - 10:03 AMthanks for all the information V---I keep saying this but it seems there is never an opportune time to retreat from life completely and de-tox! Once upon a time I went to a hospital under the supervision of a holistic doctor and fasted for five days on nothing but water. I was a bit disappointed, but then he was attempting to determine what I was allergic to, not necessarily for healing purposes. Since then I've learned as a vata dosha I'm not suppose to fast for an extended amount of time. I really really really want to do pancha karma, but this Dr. (Ayurvedic) I've been seeing, isn't doing pancha karma in the States at the moment. Plus I would've had to stay in a motel for 8 days and I'm not sure my allergies could take that. After we discussed it, he didn't feel I should attempt it there either.
He has suggested I go to India at his facilities.......ANYONE want to share a plane ride with me and go to India? I wish I could. You can do pancha karma for 23 days costing $ 2500, while 8 days in the States would cost $1800.00. Plus during the 23 days you'll be attending classes and doing yoga!
So until then I must decide what route to take---I'm leary because as Dr. Joshi informed me, sometimes, if done incorrectly--- it can make matters worse. Also I've located a holistic dentist who wants to replace and do more work on my teeth. Should I detox before I do this, or after......I'm going to have to take it slow because of the expense and my body can't take too much medication.
~sigh~ I just don't know what to do? Why can't I make decisions? -

Mon, July 25, 2005 - 5:35 PMi can make decisions for everyone else except myself too. haa haa.
i pretend its because im batman. haa haa (jk)
but seriously just get your teeth cleaned up first and that way you wont be processing the flow of chemicals coming from your filling or infections.
detoxing in my opinion can only make things worse if you do not rinse it out properly through water and sweating and soaks. and then you recycle the toxins in your body making you feel ill.
so you could do these shakes as suggested above after you get your teeth done. that way it will be baby steps before an intense detox. -

Re: P&B Shakes - the psyllium and bentonite detox how to
Mon, July 25, 2005 - 6:55 PMyes, I agree about the teeth I called the office today----to make arrangements for the test to determine which products are compatible.
My Dentist has worked with Dr. Hal Huggins, the Dentist who's one of the top instigators in getting mercury removed from the chemical compounds used in fillings. Therefore I believe I'm in good hands. He became interested in holistic healing after his daughter contacted lukemia. She received Kemo, and they said she actually died from Kemo complications instead of the cancer. Now he's dedicated his practice to help prevent and assist in the curing of others.
Good luck with your fasting! I'm happy to hear you've educated yourself concerning this as much as you have, that's excellent! -

Thu, December 15, 2005 - 8:03 AMI am SO ready to do a cleansing, it's been years and I'm afraid of what'll come out. That black rubbery stuff was so weird!
Last time I took capsules with Psyllum and an herb called Senna which made me a little crampy. Tons of water with lemon seemed to dull the pain a little bit, but it scared me and I only took about 2 or 3 a day.
***I took a very large soup spoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil when it was all done to get my digestion started up again. It was reccomended by several people and I didn't have any issues when I started eating (very light of course) again. It was extremely organic kind from a friend's farm in Italy, the greener and cloudier the better.

Re: P&B Shakes - the psyllium and bentonite detox how to
Tue, January 3, 2006 - 2:40 PMI've been talking to several gastroenterologists, I have seen colon hydrotherapy results with my own eyes, and I have witnessed videos of the insides of various middle-aged colons... I have yet to believe that everyone has mucoid plaque. Some people do. These people have buildup because they seriously abuse themselves and eat like crap for many many years. They have been plugged up for years. Most of you won't share the same situation, though.
A liver cleanse is likely more important than a colon cleanse, I am now realizing. Do the daily psyllium husk with lots of water and forget the rest of the colon cleansing, IMO. It's a waste of time and money.
Focus more on the liver and getting regular blood work done so that you can identify tumors early on, using biochemical identifiers. This is the single most important thing you can do for your health, on an ongoing basis. Worrying about a colon that's probably already in good shape, and not even thinking about a colonoscopy before using a cleansing diet is quite bizarre, now that I have been through all of this several times.
Get the blood work done FIRST. Then get any colon polyps removed, since it's a painless procedure. Then worry about getting regular fiber (use only psyllium husk). Then maybe worry about a cleanse of the liver. Then maybe worry about a colon cleanse. Did you get your cholesterol checked, too -- why NOT??? -

Re: P&B Shakes - the psyllium and bentonite detox how to
Wed, January 4, 2006 - 7:31 AMthe clay also pulls toxins from all your cells. including your liver. the fiber is just the bulk that helps you push the clay through.
mucoid plaque comes from irritation of the colon. like if you are wheat intolerant and you keep eating wheat it could build up.
not everyone has insurance to have bloodwork done. $$$$
why would you skip cleaning the colon?
its the thing that absorbs while the liver filters.
i think both should be important.
also you shouldnt do certain liver cleanses without killing parasites your body could be harboring.
