Re: cirrhosis
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 5:33 AMi would really consult with a doctor that can check on you while you are doing what you chose to do.
a gentle and safe way is just to not eat processed food. eat mostly vegan.
change your habits slowly and let your body adjust gently.
i personally have not tried it but its something to look into:
castor oil packs on your liver area
but again...i would talk to a doctor while you are doing what you are doing so you can stay safe.
organ failure can happen in a healthy person that detoxes. so its not something to be taken lightly.
i would avoid actually taking (intake) anything. just eat organic vegan. if you can stick to that you will feel great. if you cant. thats ok too. -

Re: cirrhosis
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 9:52 AMIt's hard to find a MD that knows anything about herbal options. They usually poo poo anything that doesn't have to have a Rx.
For my exzema, they want to prescribe me cortisone. It's easier to do in a 15 min appointment than examine diet, etc. -

Re: cirrhosis
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 8:53 PMwhat about looking into accupuncture?
and the person that does that may have someone they know they can refer you to thats a ND that can do your blood work
for your skin:
wash with neem soap
use organic coconut oil (unrefined) on top
castor oil works well too
and honey too.
dont use that cortizone crap.especially with a bad liver.
god i want to beat your doctor with a huge stick ..... -

Re: cirrhosis
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 9:05 PMthe liver problem isn't mine, I'm asking on behalf of a friend for his grandmother. The eczema is the worst around my eyes. I've been trying lots of things from the various threads. It's just an example. I've never had a MD, dermotologist or GP, suggest anything topical other than cortisone or hydrocortosone, since I was a kid. And not much warning about thinning of the skin. -

Re: cirrhosis
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 9:15 PMits probably from a make up or eye stuff you use?
i would get that around my nose from a certain color of a CG coverstick.
wash your eye area with that coconut oil..i like to use olive oil too. and thats usually always sitting around somewhere here. (olive)
with someone that may be older like that....you have to look at the cause for why it happened and review thier diet. i think that its best for older bodies and young fragile ones to be treated with a corrective diet before adding more stuff for their body to process.
especially in the case where filtering organs are affected.
if she is on any medication or has other health issues you need to list that as well.
otherwise a deadly combo could occur.
like taking st. johns wort too soon after taking a antidepressant can send you into convulsions. and that can kill you.
i am in a serious mood today. sorry if this all seems intense.

Re: cirrhosis
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 9:23 PMI don't know a lot about the sitch except that she wasn't a drinker. Western medicine doesn't seem to have a great prognosis. I guess if she's motivated, she should see an herbalist or acupuncturist. I was just putting out feelers to see if anyone had any info or experience. No biggy, I don't even know if she would be open to alternative therapies. Does milk thistle have any potential contraindications? -

yogi teas does make a peach detox tea that is mild.
www.yogitea.com/Organic-Tea/Tea.asp
if she is on any other medication you will have to see if you can mix the tea ings with those medications. it has dandylion which is also good for the liver.

Re: cirrhosis
Sat, September 16, 2006 - 6:04 AMWhen my eczema flares up usually I've been eating the wrong stuff~! I find if I eat too much of the night shade vegetables [tomatoes, potatoes, green peppers, eggplant, which are actually fruits] that'll do it or too much really salty foods like chips etc........Recently we went to the coast for a vacation and when I got back I broke out, all over my little body...haaa~! And I'd been eating crappy [junk food is so much fun on vacation] therefore I knew what I'd done. I immediately shed the junk and it quickly cleared up.
AT one time [back when] especially during the summer months I'd have these little blister red raised type things on my elbows fingers etc. Now I seldom have them, but if I do I know how to get rid of them when I do.
AND yes they gave me cortisone creams too. Which worked as long as you used the creams but as soon as you stopped it came back.....I knew that couldnt go on forever so I found other ways to combat the malady. Cortisone is a yuky drug as far as I'm concerned only to be used in dire circumstances. ....or for very short periods. That's my OPINON and I'm sticking to it......*Laughing*
